The college of music of fujian normal university has developed into a strong college of music of normal university in China. There are 103 faculty members, including 13 professors and 24 associate professors. Professor wang yaohua, the leader of the key discipline of musicology, vice chairman of the fujian provincial people's political consultative conference, a young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions at the national level, a famous ethnomusicologist and doctoral supervisor, is the convener of the art discipline group of the academic degree committee of the state council and a famous teacher at the national level. The college of music has the earliest doctoral program of musicology in national normal colleges and universities, the "national training base for teachers of physical education and art", and the discipline of musicology is a key discipline in fujian province. 

The doctoral program of music and dance studies of the college of music of fujian normal university ranks first in the 2018 national university discipline rankings released by the degree and graduate education development center of the ministry of education.
