Xinjiang college of art (Xinjiang Arts University) is located in the Xinjiang uygur autonomous region, urumqi, in northwest China is the only comprehensive higher art colleges, for seven provinces (area) is a comprehensive art academy, one of the ministry of education is the 30 undergraduate art colleges and universities, the first independent setting by the china-asean art college art academy league and the European Union alliance member unit, is listed as one of the autonomous region characteristic, the key discipline construction, colleges and universities by the central music institute, central academy of fine Arts, counterpart support Xinjiang art college of communication University of China. 

Its predecessor was xinjiang art school, which was founded in 1958. In 1960, it was upgraded to xinjiang art institute. In 1962, it was adjusted into xinjiang art school. In 1987, with the approval of the former national education commission, xinjiang art college was reestablished. In 2002, the college passed the ministry of education's "random level assessment of undergraduate teaching" qualified acceptance. In 2007 the ministry of education undergraduate teaching level evaluation was rated as excellent. In 2013, the school became a master's degree awarding institution. In 2014, the school recruited master's students from all over the country. 

As of April 2019, the college has tuanjie road east campus, west campus and jinqiao campus of economic and technological development zone, covering an area of 958 mu. There are 12 teaching units offering 33 undergraduate majors, two of which are key majors in the autonomous region. There are 2 key disciplines of the autonomous region for master's degree, 4 first-level disciplines under the category of arts, and 1 professional master's degree center (including 6 research fields and 19 research directions). There are 640 faculty and staff, and the total number of students is more than 7,500.
