The college is an institution of higher education that offers bachelor's, master's, doctor's and doctor of arts degrees. In 2002, the college established a credit system to match European Union requirements. In addition, the university also offers students the opportunity to study in a partner university.

The academy is the only institution of higher art education in Slovakia and is mainly responsible for the development of professional art talents. The school's main goals are: a college degree through study, more involvement in artistic activities, and a college foundation and corresponding academic degree. The college has been developing its own culture and arts to ensure that students in fields such as music, art and drama can get access to university courses. Academicians also receive a high degree, which makes them highly regarded in the talent market in Slovakia and abroad.
