Wuhan Conservatory Of Music, located in Wuhan, hubei province, is one Of nine independently established Music academies in China. It is also the only independently established institution Of higher Music in central China. It is a master's degree-granting institution and also one Of the first batch Of pilot units Of professional degree education for master Of arts (MFA) in China.

The predecessor of wuhan conservatory of music is the south China music academy, which was established in 1953 by the music department of south China academy of arts, south China people's college of literature and art and guangxi provincial art academy. In 1958, zhongnan music college merged with wuhan art normal university to form hubei art college. From 1972 to 1978, the school was named "hubei art college"; In 1985, the school was renamed wuhan conservatory of music.

According to the official website of the school in April 2016, wuhan conservatory of music has two campuses: jiefang road campus and binjiang campus. The campus covers a total area of 180 mu, the value of teaching instruments and equipment is over 37 million yuan, and the library has a collection of over 270,000 books. There are 9 ordinary undergraduate teaching units and 6 ordinary undergraduate majors. There are 475 full-time teachers (including hired teachers), and 6080 students of all kinds, including 446 postgraduates. As of December 2018, wuhan conservatory of music has been listed as a social art level grading institution.
