The national autonomous university of Mexico is the largest and oldest university in Mexico. Its predecessor was the royal university of Mexico approved by the Spanish regent felipe ii in 1551. Later, it was renamed the royal curia DE Mexico and the national curia DE Mexico, etc. After several changes, it was autonomous in 1929 and is still in use today.
